
MODERN SLAVERY & HUMAN TRAFFICKING POLICY STATEMENT
This statement is made by Swietelsky Construction Co Ltd in accordance with the requirements under Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (“the Act”) and is approved by the Swietelsky board. It represents the Board’s direction to the business on this topic. Compliance with this policy is mandatory through aligning Swietelsky UK Ltd Management System processes and people behaviours to the commitments below.
Policy Statement
This policy applies to everyone working for us or on our behalf of the company in any capacity, including employees at all levels, directors, officers, agency workers, seconded workers, volunteers, agents, contractors and suppliers.
Swietelsky Construction Co Ltd strictly prohibits the use of modern slavery and human trafficking in our recruitment, operations and supply chain. We have and will continue to be committed to implementing systems and controls aimed at ensuring that modern slavery does not take place anywhere within our organisation or in any of our supply chains. We expect that our suppliers will hold their own suppliers to the same high standards.
It sets out how we, during the financial year ending 31 March 2025, continued our efforts to ensure that no slavery or human trafficking takes place in our supply chain or any other part of our business.
Our business
Founded in Austria, the Swietelsky AG Group of Companies is one of the leading railway constructors in Europe. Swietelsky Construction Co Ltd was established in the UK in 2004 to provide track renewal and maintenance services to Network Rail through a joint operation with Babcock Rail.
We provide the latest on-track technologies to improve safety, reliability and sustainability of mechanised railway engineering works. We employ over 11,000 employees in Swietelsky Group and over 130 people in our UK workforce across England, Scotland and Wales and believe the risk of human trafficking on our workforce is very low.
Compliance
The majority of our team members are trained professionals who have been selected through Swietelsky Construction Co Ltd rigorous and transparent hiring processes managed by our HR and Management team, who also take responsibility for employee wellbeing in the workplace. Swietelsky Construction Co Ltd has examined the risk of modern slavery within its business operations on a risk-based approach and considers the risks of modern slavery in its supply chain to be low.
The assessment is based upon the nature of our online business and the services we provide to customers which present very limited exposure to modern slavery risks.
