Swietelsky UK operates two AFM 2000 High Output Ballast Regulators, designed to deliver fast, efficient and high‑quality ballast management on busy rail networks. Combining ballast regulating, brushing and a 20‑ton hopper with an integrated Dynamic Track Stabiliser (DTS), the AFM fleet provides a powerful all‑in‑one solution for track quality and geometry support. 

Engineered for high‑output work sites, the AFM 2000 units enable rapid deployment, consistent performance and reduced possession times — making them a valuable asset for maintenance, renewals and infrastructure delivery across the UK network.

The competence centre: Fischamend railway construction yard

The heart of our mechanical and logistical expertise is the Fischamend depot, strategically located near Vienna. On a 24-hectare site, we not only ensure the operational readiness of our fleet, but also drive innovation. This is where our certified workshop for rail vehicles is located.

Services at the Fischamend site:

  • Maintenance & overhaul: We carry out all maintenance and overhaul work (e.g. wheel sets, brakes, bogies) to the highest standards.
  • Fleet management (ECM): As a certified maintenance organisation, we manage special vehicles and wagons.
  • Fleet management: Dispatching, servicing and management of motor vehicles.
  • Comprehensive workshop capacities: Our own metalworking shop, turning shop, electrical engineering and mechanical workshop enable repairs, further developments and the construction of innovative prototypes.

The performance of our machinery is evident on construction sites throughout Europe – from the renovation of the Kassel-Fulda high-speed line to the Rail Baltica megaproject.

Logistical independence through our own railway undertaking

RTS Rail Transport Service GmbH is our own railway transport company. It guarantees logistical sovereignty for our projects throughout Europe.

  • Focus on construction site logistics: RTS primarily handles the transport of our track-laying machines and work train services for construction site traffic.
  • Europe-wide network access: Unrestricted access in many EU countries enables fast and uncomplicated handling of cross-border projects.
  • Certified quality and safety: As a company certified to ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and SCC, RTS ensures the highest standards.
